Principal Designer

Principal Designer

The benefits of using one of our specialist engineering-based Principal Designers means that we can help you:

  • Comply with your duties under the CDM Regulations 2015
  • Identify specialist engineering hazards at an early stage
  • Use our experience managing real buildings to liaise with the designers throughout the design process and ensure a safe and serviceable building in use
  • Engage the right project team by assessing competence and resources of tendering contractors to an appropriate technical level
  • Understand implications of changes in design

Our Expertise

We have specialist expertise in coordinating the health and safety activities of design teams and contractors within engineering construction and refurbishment based projects.

We always appoint a separate engineer to provide coordination without any risk of conflict.

Arrangements

Our arrangements are regularly assessed to ensure all health and safety criteria are fulfilled in order for us to undertake the role of Principal Designer. SVM Associates is a member of RoSPA and is approved by Safe Contractor and ContractorPlus

All of our engineers are qualified with EOR202 Basic Lift Safety and six of our professionals are specifically qualified with a National Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).

We have acted successfully on numerous, complex building services projects - as CDM Co-ordinators til April 2015 and Principal Designers since then. This includes a roof-top chiller plant replacement programme on a 34 storey building in central London where the transporting of chiller components was within lift shafts and the risk of ACM's needed to be closely managed.
